Can TracePath replace Datadog for my team?
If what you use Datadog for is application observability — logs, traces, metrics, errors, replay, uptime and paging — then largely yes. If you also rely on its infrastructure, security or cloud-cost modules, TracePath has no equivalent and you would be keeping both.
Does TracePath need a proprietary agent?
No. TracePath consumes OTLP from any OpenTelemetry SDK or collector. We publish a pre-built collector distribution for host metrics, but a stock upstream Collector works exactly as well.
How hard is the migration?
If you already run the OpenTelemetry Collector, add a second OTLP exporter and send to both backends for a while. Dashboards and alerts have to be recreated — Grafana JSON imports, Datadog dashboards do not.
