1.What TracePath is, and is not

TracePath is a commercial product. The hosted service at tracepath.dev is operated by AtlasAPX Kamil Krawczyk under the Terms of Service. TracePath’s own source code is proprietary and is not published. There is no open-source edition of TracePath, no community licence, and no free self-hosted distribution of it.

TracePath is built on open source. It derives from the MIT-licensed Traceway project and depends on a large body of open-source software. Those components keep their own licences. Nothing on this page, and nothing in our Terms, restricts any right you hold directly under an open-source licence in respect of the component that licence covers.

TracePath is not the upstream project. We do not present the upstream project’s name, mark, team, community or release history as ours, and we do not speak for it. Questions about TracePath go to us; questions about the upstream project go to its own maintainers.

2.Upstream project attribution

TracePath is derived from Traceway, distributed under the MIT License. The following copyright notice and permission notice are reproduced in full, as that licence requires, and are included with the software:

The MIT licence permits commercial use, modification and distribution of a derived work, provided the notice above travels with it. That is the basis on which TracePath is built, and the notice is retained in the software as well as published here.

The upstream project’s authors provide the software “as is” and give no warranty. They have no involvement in the operation of the TracePath service and no liability for it. The service is warranted — to the extent it is warranted at all — only by us, under our own Terms of Service.

3.OpenTelemetry

TracePath is built around OpenTelemetry, a project of the Cloud Native Computing Foundation, licensed under the Apache License 2.0. We use its specification, its data model and its Go instrumentation libraries, and we accept OTLP over HTTP as the primary way data reaches us.

OpenTelemetry and OTLP are used here as the names of the specification and protocol. TracePath is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by the CNCF or the OpenTelemetry project.

4.Major open-source components

The components below are the significant ones, with the licence each package declares. This is a summary rather than an exhaustive dependency tree; see section 6 for the complete list.

Components under the Mozilla Public License 2.0 and similar file-level copyleft licences are used unmodified, or any modifications are made available in accordance with the licence. Write to [email protected] if you need a copy of the corresponding source for such a component.

5.Fonts and icons

Our interfaces use Inter, JetBrains Mono and IBM Plex Mono, all distributed under the SIL Open Font License 1.1, and Lucide icons under the ISC licence. Each remains subject to its own licence.

6.Getting the full list

We maintain a complete inventory of third-party components and their licences as part of our build. To request the current inventory, or the licence text of any specific component, write to [email protected]. We provide it free of charge.

If you believe a component is attributed incorrectly or is missing from this page, please tell us — we treat it as a bug and correct it.

TracePath and the TracePath logo are marks of AtlasAPX Kamil Krawczyk. All other product names, logos and marks mentioned on this site are the property of their respective owners, and are used for identification only. Their use does not imply any affiliation with or endorsement by them.
